Electoral process in Nigeria like other developing countries is subsumed with different
malfeasances, thus earn global condemnation. Some these malfeasances are
occasioned by corrupt leaders and political parties who took the advantage of manual
electoral process to alter the result of the election to meet their selfish ambition.
However, this inhuman practice is said to be reduced if not eradicated by the use of
automated/electronic voting system. This paper examines the evolution of Nigerian
electoral process, the adoption of automated electoral process and benefits and
challenges accrued to it as well as the legal framework for it adaptation in the country.
Lastly, the paper discusses the appropriateness in the automation of the Nigeria
electoral process by considering the high rate of corruption in the country.
